Starting Out

So, I'm going to try something different this time...

I'm tired of people having trouble playing my games, so I'm going to be writing it to run on the web. At that point, no matter what your platform, if you can access itch.io on a reasonably modern browser you should be able to play it. For now, I'm planning to use a Racket package called Urlang that compiles out to JavaScript. My preliminary tests look pretty good.

Second, I'm going to really try to go all the way to meet the judging categories -- it needs to be *entertaining*, with a good *presentation*. And, although the basic design is derivative, hopefully I'll have enough extra that it will be considered *creative* as well. So, I'm going to do everything I can to get the basic architecture working as quickly as possible, then tune that as much as I can.

Sub goals? So glad you asked!

  • I'll make a schedule.
  • I want sound.
  • I want a level editor.

So, these are the terms of engagement. Let's see how they hold up over the next nine days!
